Diplomatic Relations

Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and South Korea were formally established on September 17, 1973. The relationship began with the establishment of consular relations in the 1960s and was later upgraded to ambassadorial level in 1973. Over the years, the relationship has evolved into a "Strategic Partnership" in 2006 and further elevated to a "Special Strategic Partnership" in 2017. Key areas of cooperation include trade, investment, defense, and cultural exchanges. High-level visits and agreements have strengthened ties, with both countries working closely on regional security and economic development.
